• Moment of silence observed at 3:30 PM ET

HealthcareSigns.com joins the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) in observing a national moment of silence at 3:30 PM ET on October 8th. Since March 2020, over 80,000 long-term care residents, caregivers, and professionals around the U.S. have passed away due to COVID-19.

Debbie Meade, the board chair of AHCA, remarks, “In long term care, we become a family, and to lose even one resident or colleague is heartbreaking. This pandemic has been devastating for our vulnerable residents who the virus uniquely impacts, their family members who haven’t been allowed to visit, as well as our heroic caregivers who continue to work tirelessly to provide the best care possible.”

Long-term care as a whole has faced an unprecedented year, with restricted facility access, isolation, and amplified health and safety measures changing everything. Face-to-face visits have been reduced to window and virtual visits, with senior living facilities navigating a landscape that’s more different than ever. Likewise, residents continue to grapple with fear, isolation, and other effects of COVID-19.

On behalf of our HealthcareSigns.com team, we want to stand along of those who continue to grieve incalculable losses, and we continue to hope for an eventual return to normalcy.

Join us, wherever you are, at 3:30 PM ET today as we pause to honor all those that we have lost. The moment of silence will coincide with the opening general session of the AHCA/NCAL Virtual Convention & Expo. However, there is no requirement to register for the conference to pay tribute. Please continue to do your due diligence (e.g., observing CDC best practices, wearing face coverings, practicing social distancing) to protect yourself and others from infection.
